fall 09

boot dreams for fall

When I think of fall, I think BOOTS. I have my eye on gray ankle boots but I still love the idea of tall riding boots. I also found other interesting ones out there. My jeans, sweaters (and, yes, TURTLENECKS) are ready. Here are some of my favourites...

In an alternate universe where I had $1,100 to burn, my wallet would spontaneously combust for these Chloe side-buckled boots. They are PERFECT.

Minnie by Vince Camuto (sadly, only size 9.5 left! Gasp!!)

Air Petra by Cole Haan, simple with a nice silhouette and comes in a few colors

Crush by Cole, Rood & Haan Co. (the new vintage inspired line). Oxford-like, elegant.

Crispin by Via Spiga, love the oxford details with the laces

I adore these Platform Ankle bootie by Pierre Hardy! The desert boot just got sexier.

Shirley riding boot by Frye, you can't go wrong with Fryes

Love the buckles and the heel on these Zooey boots by Dolce Vita

This how I would do over-the-knee. Jada by DKNYc

Watson boot by Twelfth Street by Cynthia Vincent. The cut-out in the back is great.

falling forward : look 2 (my urban uniform)

Any given fall day, I could be spotted in this ensemble... most of it very similar to pieces I already own. I realized that the colour palette was subconsciously inspired by Michael Sanderson's illustrations. Although, I am a fan of grays with splashes of yellow.

THE JACKET: I adore this Twenty8Twelve by Sienna Miller wool military jacket from Intermix. Reminds me a little of a white denim Diesel jacket that I love.

THE TANK: I'm a big fan of my James Perse long racerback tank. The one I own is made of a lightweight wool. They use the best, softest fabrics and it's the perfect length – not too long that it looks like a dress. Must get myself another.
THE JEANS: No, I couldn't bring myself to choose a different brand. I know that True Religions will FIT. Nicely. Why reinvent the wheel? This particular rinse will offset the jacket nicely.

THE BAG: Also from Intermix, another Chloe bag I wish I could afford. One can dream, right? I love that it's clean, elegant but not fussy or stuffy.

THE SCARF: I love wearing scarves in the fall (or the spring). I love the colour of this Eileen Fisher silk and wool ombre wrap scarf from Bloomingdales.

THE BOOT: I really want a sexy gray bootie for the fall. The gray is a nice alternative to the usual black boot. I love that these Felipe Open Vamp booties by Tashkent by Cheyenne from Shopbop are lined with shearling. Sexy and comfortable. Love it.

red, black & white : pre-fall 2009 part 2

If I could afford another ensemble during the in-between season, this would be it. I love the innovative high collar dress design my Mel en Stel from Sunday Brunch Dress shop (from Spring 09). It's backless and cape-like at the same time. The red piping gives it an added punch of sexy. Perfect for those early fall rooftop parties.

Love the "wings" on these Georgina Goodman Hilda open-toe pumps from Shopbop.com

a look ahead to fall : part 2

Midway through every summer, I start to think about what I'd like to wear in the fall. It's partly a preventative measure to keep me from getting caught spending my money on all the end-of-summer sales come August (or earlier!).
I recently browsed through Style.com's pre-fall 09, fall 09 and accessories reports. I'm surprised to say, there's not a lot out there I got excited about. There's a lot of horrendously ugly and loud platform shoes from all the designers this year! Yikes! I tend to NOT follow every trend because I know what I look good in (and what I don't). My rule of thumb: If the clothes are wearing you as opposed to you wearing the clothes, chances are you should not wear it. I usually need (and like) more flattering, curve defining cuts. I really don't like a lot of the silly, baggy/shapeless or costume-like outfits that I saw. I will never be caught dead wearing a big floaty kaftan.

Out of everything I did see, here are a few pieces I can get excited about. (Some of them, I can see being worn together.)
I love this Colette Dinnigan dress

Chloe bag
Stella McCartney
These Coach ankle boots are ultra-sexy and TO DIE FOR! They would look great with the Mackage coat that I'm longing to have as well as the two outfits above.
Chloe
Derek Lam bag. YUM!
Chloe boots
There's something about this Proenza Schouler bag. It's like an edgy book bag.

I'm not usually into croc leather. But these Tod's boots, also gorgeous.
